Historic Preservation: Building and Preservation Inventories

Granby, CO
Historic Façades Design Study

The Center created a detailed report of the historical character and significant building precedents in Granby as well as an inventory of the existing building facades in the City of Granby. After analyzing the historical character of Granby and the current design characteristics, the student offered suggestions for making Granby a destination with a more unified look and feel taking into account both historical options as well as modern approaches.

Granby, CO
Historic Facades Design Alternatives

The Center provided fifteen building façade alternatives to existing historic commercial buildings in Granby. Each façade had two to three design alternatives. The intern met with ten to twelve owners individually to get an overview and suggestions from the owners. The intention of the overall design guidelines is to preserve view, and minimize visual impact of parking lots, service areas, refuse storage, and mechanical/electrical equipment. The intent of the façade guidelines is to provide a character and material treatment that is significantly characteristic of Granby in the past and present.

Minturn, CO
Historic Buildings Photographic Inventory

The history student intern photographed 200 building façades of the primary buildings within the historic old town of Minturn. The façades were then inventoried by their date of construction and provided with a typology of the architecture. The intention of the inventory is to evaluate the need for historic nominations and design guidelines.
