Donald W. Hoagland Strategic Initiatives Fund
Davis, Graham and Stubbs, LLP initiated the fund to honor public health leader and advocate, Donald W. Hoagland. Donations to the Hoagland fund will be used at the Dean’s discretion to fund new initiatives based on the greatest needs in the school of public health. The ability to respond quickly to emerging public health issues is critical for the school to remain at the forefront of public health.
Scholarship Funds
Colorado and the United States will need a combined public
health workforce of 250,000 by 2020. By supporting student
scholarships, you ensure we attract, retain and train students
ready and eager to tackle our workforce challenges.
The Colorado Trust donated $750,000 to establish the John R. Moran, Jr. Scholarship Fund. Donations to the scholarship fund will support the proposed school develop a diverse workforce to address health disparities across the region by attracting students and easing the burden of tuition. Additional scholarship funds can be targeted toward specific public health areas, towards specific student criteria, or at a specific institution.
Distance Education
Tapping in to the technological advances in distance education will enable the school to increase access to students throughout the region. Distance education capabilities need to be developed and coordinated in the area of public health across the universities.
Center for Public Health Practice
A Center for Public Health Practice ensure that connections to practice are incorporated into the school. Internships and practicum experiences will be required for all students, managed through the Center, and completed in governmental agencies, community-based organizations, or more focused research settings. The Center is the hub for continuing public health training for the workforce, providing a range of continuing educational offerings responsive to workforce needs. The Center also facilitates community-driven public health service and public health practice research.
Program Area Development
Beyond the people, we need programs; programs which are
designed to meet the changing and challenging health related
needs of our state. New and emerging diseases, changes in the composition of our population, and alternations in our environment necessitate new approaches to public health and health care. By supporting program innovation and development you position us to be at the forefront of research and training.
Library Access to Journals
The translation of evidence-based knowledge into practical interventions to improve outcomes through the latest research and best practices needs to be accessible to students, faculty and professionals in the community. Funding is needed for the increased demand for journal subscriptions across the universities and to allow more access for public health professionals working in the community.
Endowments
An endowment is a long-term investment that provides benefits to students, faculty or programs as a portion of the income is reinvested each year, enabling the endowment to grow and provide a permanent stream of income over time. Endowments offer the opportunity to attract and retain the best faculty, insure access for students, and allow a school to remain competitive among peers. Endowments could be for the school, professorships, department chairs, classrooms and computer/research laboratories at any one of the partner institutions. Consider one of these endowment opportunities:
