PhD Costs and Financing

  • University of Colorado Denver Tuition & Financial Aid
  • Each year the School of Public Affairs will choose up to three students to receive a full tuition waiver and a stipend of approximately $15,000.  This award may be renewed for three years based on funding availability, but out of state funding is only available for one year (resident tuition is available to graduate students after one year if they meet University criteria).  The awards are based on merit and awarded by the PhD committee as part of the application process.  No additional application materials are needed to be considered for this award.
  • National Science Foundation IGERT grant in Sustainable Urban Infrastructure 
  • The School of Public Affairs will choose one applicant to participate in the Sustainable Urban Infrastructure program for the 2010- 2011 school year.  This program is done in collaboration with the College of Engineering, College of Architecture and Planning and the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.  Each student will complete the PhD in Public Affairs core and have cross-disciplinary electives.  Support for tuition and fees (up to $10,500/ year) and a $30,000/year stipend are granted to each IGERT student.
  • The PhD program qualifies for the WICHE Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP).  Students who live in Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming are eligible for in-state tuition if they complete the PhD program at the Denver campus of the University of Colorado Denver.  California residents are eligible in 2010 - 2011.  For more information, please email spa@ucdenver.edu or visit the WICHE website.
