| Building on a Model: The Community College Open Learning Initiative - WCET Webcast |
| Carnegie Mellon University, in collaboration with state agencies and national affinity groups, will establish a consortium of community colleges that will enact a large scale, systems-change process that increases efficiency in the way instruction is developed, delivered, evaluated, and continuously improved. The overarching goal is to demonstrate a 25% higher rate of course completion for students from vulnerable populations, with a focus on gatekeeper courses critical to graduation success. Within three years, the Community College Opening Learning Initiative (CC-OLI) will scale to 40 community college partners and will reach an additional 50-100 classrooms. Attend this webcast to hear how Candace Thille will lead this new initiative based on the proven principles of the Open Learning Initiative. |

| Winter Web Camp |
|
For Instructors interested in getting started with the basics of the eCollege or Blackboard platforms, we have added pre-camp sessions designed to cover the basics of these online systems. And for anyone needing a place to work supported by CU Online experts, the CU Online training lab will conduct supported open lab hours all week.
Before Web Camp begins CU Online will offer Faculty Online Preparedness training. Monday we will devote the morning discussing the basics of eCollege for those using this online delivery platform to teach a fully online course, a hybrid course or using eCollege to supplement their on campus course.
Monday afternoon will be devoted to Blackboard Basics. What is Blackboard and how do I use it? This quick introduction to Blackboard will give you the skills and tools you need to supplement your face-to-face course with an online gradebook, discussions and quizzes. Using Blackboard you can enhance your students' performance, better manage your commitment of time to the classroom and improve student preparation for class. This session will also cover how to use Blackboard to cover class material and assignments in the event of unexpected campus closures.
Beginning Tuesday, January 12, CU Online will host its fourth Annual Winter Web Camp. A hybrid online and classroom experience, faculty can choose from a variety of sessions to attend, either at CU Online or remotely from any broadband connected computer. Each 90 minute session is designed to help faculty make the most of tools inside Blackboard and eCollege, and to better leverage the growing number of technologies available online.

| Multimedia Adding Graphic, Sound and Video to Your Blackboard Course |
|
Adding multimedia such as graphic, sound and video to your course? Attend this session to learn how easy it is to incorporate graphic, sound or video. Feel free to bring your own multimedia to this hands-on session.
Please note that this workshop will focus only on how to add images, audio, and video to courses in Blackboard. While users of other course management systems (e.g., eCollege) are welcome to attend, time will not be spent focusing on how to add multimedia into other course management systems. Further, to get the most out of this workshop, all attendees are expected to be proficient with using the basic tools in Blackboard as well as have access to a current course shell in Blackboard to use during the workshop activities.
This workshop is divided into three main parts to address the needs of all learners. However, we encourage everyone to attend the first two parts of the workshop regardless of background and experience. The last part is an unstructured time or one-on-one assistance for advanced users. |
