Organization
The Colorado Center for Community Development is an outreach component of the College of Architecture and Planning at the University of Colorado Denver. The College has the only academic programs in the state offering graduate degrees in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Planning. Drawing upon these unique resources, the Center coordinates the faculty, staff and students of the College in providing community development, planning, design education, research, and technical assistance to neighborhoods and communities throughout Colorado that cannot afford or do not have access to these services.
The Center functions as a division of the College with its Director reporting to the Dean. Professional and support staff at the Center are organized into two distant but interrelated units: the Urban Assistance Program and the Rural Assistance Program. The Rural program is currently the most active program and maintains two offices one on the UCD Downtown Campus and one in Grand Junction (in coordination with the State Department of Local Affairs). The Center has two additional resources: The Scenic Byway Survey Study and a Small Town Initative grant program for inventoring historic properties within the community.
