Bike & Pedestrian Survey & Analysis
The Center provided a survey and analysis for a bicycle and pedestrian users along 72th Street in Commerce City between Highway 2 and Quebec Street. Surveyors recorded the characteristics and actions of pedestrians and bicyclists in three locations along 72nd Street that included time, age, gender, direction of travel, street side of travel, and street crossing and direction. Times were selected to capture the busiest times of day for pedestrian and bicycle traffic, including morning commute to work and school on weekdays, afternoon/evening commute from work and school on weekdays, mid-day on Saturdays, mid-day on Sundays (corresponding with area church times). Surveying took place over the course of ten days in May, June, August, and September. This survey is being conducted prior to a streetscape improvements project to analyze the changes of the pre- and post-use of the street by pedestrians and bikers.

Sidewalk Assessment & As-builts
The Center created as-built drawings of the sidewalk for the two blocks of commercial along Front and Main Street (Hwy 9) and the three side streets 4th, 5th and 6th. The student intern created a sidewalk development plan for the improvement of the sidewalk to include landscaping, corner treatments and the reduction of curb cuts. Sidewalks will be colored concrete, expanded to a five foot width, and accommodate the various elevation changes through out the project. Some existing sidewalk conditions are of old covered wooden boardwalk. Treatment to these areas were drawn to be improved to concrete and included in the overall document. The side street improvements will generate a pedestrian friendly area pulling visitors from Main street to the stores on Front street and vice a versa. Cost estimates were done in connection to these drawings for grant purposes.
