Learning Landscapes is hiring Student Interns for the 2009 Fall semester. Following are details and position descriptions for each internship opportunity. #1 – LiveWell Westwood Intern ($13/hr):
• Assist with planning and implementation of healthy eating and active living initiatives in at-risk neighborhoods
• Examples include community supported agriculture, urban design, community organizing, walkability, and safety initiatives
• Conduct research to identify best practices regarding promoting health through policy and built environments in at-risk neighborhoods
• Liaison with city and grassroots leaders to create coalitions, and form and strengthen partnerships to improve active living and healthy eating

#2 – Community Health Intern ($13/hr):
• Assist in planning and preparation for development of strategic plans to increase healthy eating and active living within community organizations, schools and faith-based organizations within the Westwood community
• Work with organizations to develop evaluation and sustainability plans to ensure that strategies do not end once funding is complete
• Actively seek out possible national and local partners that can assist organizations in implementation of the strategies that they define

#3 – Garden Design Intern (AmeriCorps service hours):
• Meet with community to discuss school garden idea and assess potential sites
• Create scaled schematic plan of the garden site and present garden design to community
• Create computer rendered drawing of the garden site and planting plan to add to school’s existing site plan
• Work with garden committee, students and volunteers to create the garden
