Research Interests_______________________________________________

I am interested in landscape and urbanism, design of public space, film studies, and public digital media. I am involved in design studios to assist in the rebuild of the Lower Ninth Ward and other parts of the City of New Orleans.  I also teach a course that explores landscape and film.

Prior to Denver, I served as Division Director for Media Arts and Technology and an Associate Professor of Film in the School of Communication at Cleveland State University. I am an independent filmmaker and editor, with work including “Claiming Open Spaces,” a feature length documentary.  I was the Interim Director of First College, the integrative college at Cleveland State University, as well as Director of the CSU Prison Media Literacy Project.  I am currently working on a documentary titled “In the Site of the Unseen,” on Frederick Law Olmsted and the impact of his work on diversity and African-American cultural life.
