UCD Green Roof Research Project -Conceptual Design Review for the UCD Green Roof Research Project

Open review all are invited to participate in the UCDHSC 4th floor Green Roof Review

The selected panel/jury for the College of Architecture and Planning Seminar “Green Roof: Design and Implementation” at University of Colorado at Denver are meeting for a review – open to students, faculty, professionals and the public

The panel/jury members are selected based upon your expertise in the field and importance to the success of the actual project.

“Green Roof: Design and Implementation” is a special topics course offered to graduate students in architecture, landscape architecture, and planning.  The class is a result of a student initiative to design and implement a green roof on the fourth-floor patio on the UCDHSC building at 1250 14th Street.  With enthusiastic support from Dean Gelernter of the College of Architecture and Planning, the endeavor was introduced into the curriculum.

Currently, students are rigorously researching various components of green roofs such as structure, drainage and irrigation, growing medium, plant material, green walls, renewable energy, recycled material, and grants.  In addition, they are researching case studies of both intensive and extensive green roof projects in various climates.  The students have compiled their research and are currently working in small project teams to finalize the conceptual design for the 4th floor patio space at UCD.

We sincerely hope that you are able to join us in these upcoming reviews.

  • April 10th  Introduction & Draft conceptual design (5:30PM-8PM)
  • April 24th Final Review (5:30PM-8PM)

With your insight and expertise this project will evolve to the implementation phase with new recognition to UCDHSC, as leaders in implementation of sustainable design strategies.
