Areas of Concentration
Each upper division emphasis has been carefully designed to prepare you for entry into the workplace or for graduate studies. Emphases specifically designed to lead to faster completion of graduate-level programs are: Architecture, Planning and Urban Design, and the landscape and historic preservation options of the Design Studies emphasis.
- Architecture

- Planning and Urban Design
- This emphasis focuses on the broader scale of neighborhoods, cities and regions and how they affect each other and the population.
- Design Studies
- This emphasis focuses on the combination of architecture/ planning with other varied specializations (housing policy, environmental psychology, history of architecture, etc).
- Although there is currently no upper-division emphasis in Landscape Architecture, there is a structured option in Landscape Studies within this Design Studies emphasis.
There are 60 required and elective credits in each upper division emphasis. Find out more about the Graduate programs and their requirements.
