Luna Insight Digital Image Library—The Architecture and Planning Collection

The Architecture and Planning collection may be accessed through the URL link above, or it may also be accessed through Java software on the computers in the college student labs. Copyrights and contractual obligations require that access to this collection be limited to current faculty, staff, and enrolled students of the University of Colorado, the Metropolitan State College of Denver, and the Community College of Denver. The log-on names and passwords for the collection will be different depending on which campus you are accessing the collection from; please contact the VRC staff for the appropriate log-on name and password for your campus (303-492-2808 or 303-315-2425 or vrc@colorado.edu).

Please note - you must access the Architecture and Planning collection from a computer located on one of the University of Colorado or Auraria campuses, or you must use Virtual Private Network (VPN) software for off-campus access.

If you are a current student, staff, or faculty member trying to gain access from a remote location off-campus, please refer to the link to the right for information on acquiring Virtual Private Network (VPN) software from your institution. VPN software connects off-campus computers to campus networks, and therefore can allow off-campus access to this collection.

ARTstor

To activate an ARTstor account for the first time, end-users must be on one of the three CU campuses or the Metro State or CCD campuses so that ARTstor recognizes that you are a member of one of these ARTstor participating institutions. After accessing the ARTstor web site’s home page, click on the “Go” button in the upper right corner of the screen. At the second screen, go to the “Register / Logon” portion in the upper right hand corner of the screen and click on the “Register” button. It will ask for an e-mail address and a password that is created by the end-user. Once registered, users may access ARTstor from any computer, on or off campus, for the next 120 days. Every time a user logs on to ARTstor, it updates their account for an additional 120 days.

Please note - due to copyright concerns of the image owners, ARTstor’s “Offline Image Viewer” (or OIV) must be downloaded to the end-user’s computer’s hard drive (from the ARTstor Tools menu) in order to be able to display ARTstor’s highest resolution images in presentations. Because of copyright, ARTstor’s high resolution images cannot be used in PowerPoint or other presentation programs, including Luna Insight. However, images from Luna Insight or from personal or other collections can be loaded into the OIV and used in conjunction with ARTstor images. The only images that can be completely taken out of the ARTstor database are presentation quality (1024 pixels on the long side). Therefore, to make the best use of ARTstor’s quality images, users must utilize the OIV presentation tool that ARTstor provides for presentations.
