Bio:
Dr. Jan T. Bialasiewicz was born in Poland. He received the MS degree from the Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw, Poland, in 1962. He later earned his PhD degree and his DSc (habilitation) degree, both from the Silesian University of Technology, Warsaw, Poland, in 1966 and 1972, respectively. All degrees are in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Control Engineering. He is a Professional Engineer registered in Colorado. The President of the Republic of Poland awarded Professor Bialasiewicz with the Scientific Title of Professor of Technical Sciences for 2001.

From 1962 to 1968 Dr. Bialasiewicz was a Research Associate with the Institute for Automatic Control, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland. In 1968/69 he was a Research Associate with the Department of Mathematics, Oregon State University. From 1969 to 1978 he was a Head of the Computer Control Software Department with the Industrial Institute for Automation and Measurements, Warsaw, Poland. From 1978 to 1979 he was a Head of the Computer Control Software Laboratory, Nuclear Research Institute, Warsaw, Poland. In 1979, he left Poland to assume the position of an Associate Professor with the Higher Institute of Electronics, Malta. Since 1985 he has been an Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Colorado Denver. In the summers of 1990 and 1991 he was Visiting Research Scientist with the Joint Institute for Advancement of Flight Sciences, GWU and NASA Langley Research Center. In the summer of 1993 he was with the Structure Dynamic Branch, NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, Virginia. In the summer of 1994 he was a visiting Research Associate, Golden, Colorado. In 1997 he was a Visiting Professor with the Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw, Poland.

Wavelet Theory and Applications: signal processing, wavelet-based modeling and identification of nonlinear dynamics, in particular structure dynamics.
