Mission

The Department of Electrical Engineering supports the University of Colorado Denver and its mission to foster the intellectual and economic vitality of the State of Colorado and the Denver metropolitan area through teaching, research, and outreach. The department provides an undergraduate and graduate education in electrical engineering to a diverse group of students. It strives to continually update its program of study to qualify its graduates for technical positions in the Denver metropolitan area and beyond, while providing sufficient breadth and depth in its program to assure its graduates success in the profession. The program stresses the rigorous scientific and theoretical foundations of the discipline and thus enables its graduates to enter any advanced level educational program with the critical thinking needed for success. In addition, the program includes interdisciplinary work and encourages faculty members to develop their professional activities.

Educational Objectives

The program objectives of Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Colorado Denver:

  • Develop electrical engineering graduates who are immediately productive engineers and can advance their careers on different professional tracks in the engineering industry.
  • Develop electrical engineering graduates who can pursue graduate education in engineering or other fields such as business, medicine, and law. 

These objectives are consistent with the mission of the University, congruent with the goals of the College of Engineering and Applied Science, and reflective of the mission of the Electrical Engineering Department.
