Message from the Dean
Welcome to the University of Colorado's School of Public Affairs. After spending five years as a member of SPA’s faculty, I assumed the position of Dean on July 1, 2008. In addition to teaching our students in the classroom and participating in a variety of research, I had been SPA's PhD Program Director and the Director of the Center for Education Policy Analysis. I am using this experience to move our School forward - looking for opportunities to further collaboration, enhancing opportunities for students and continuing to build partnerships within our community.
As of early 2009, the nation, the state of Colorado, and the University of Colorado all face daunting challenges, to revitalize the economy, deal with reduced budgets, and still try to make progress. The study of public affairs provides a solid foundation for these efforts, with training in management, budgets, regulation and related topics more timely than ever.
As the #32 ranked school of public affairs in America and the only one in the Rocky Mountain West, we take pride in our programs and also feel a responsibility to train tomorrow’s leaders. From innovative MPA and MCJ concentrations in Emergency Management to Domestic Violence, the highly successful introduction of our first undergraduate degree (Bachelors in Criminal Justice) and the timely work of our Presidential Climate Action Project, we are a School committed to making an impact.
As we continue to fulfill our mission to “lead, solve, change”, we hope you will take some time to learn about what SPA has to offer. We look forward to hearing from you if you have any questions.
Best,
Paul Teske
