Why should you attend

Incidences of domestic violence result in nearly 2 million injuries and 1,300 deaths annually in the United States (CDC, 2003).

Interpersonal violence is a major public health issue.   Thirty-seven percent of all women who sought care in hospital emergency rooms for violence-related injuries were injured by a current or former spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend (US Department of Justice, 1997).

Medical expenses associated with domestic and interpersonal violence are estimated to cost the nation between $5 and $10 billion annually (AMA, 1992).

Interpersonal violence frequently results in significant psychological harm, including depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances and substance abuse (Sabina, 2006).
