This section includes American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) information relating to preK-12, formula/competitive grant information, and ARRA K-12 News.
Through ARRA, Colorado is set to receive more than $1 billion in stimulus funding for education. Funding sources include:
• $760.2 million from the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund
• $111.1 million from Title I, Part A
• $7 million from Title II, Part D
• $148.7 million from IDEA, Part B Grants to States
• $5.3 million from IDEA, Part B Preschool Grants
• $33.8 million in School Modernization Grants
• $1.1 million in Impact Aid
• $7 million in Educational Technology State Grants
• $1 million for Education for Homeless Children and Youth
In addition to the current available amount of SFSF funds, this site will also offer information on the $4.35 billion Race to the Top grant program.
As a condition of acceptance of ARRA funds, states are required to implement reforms set out by the U.S Department of Education. These reforms include requiring states to collect, publish, analyze, and act on the acquired information resulting from ARRA funding. After the funds are spent states must show:
- Progress toward college and career-ready standards and rigorous assessments that will improve both teaching and learning
- The ability to gather information to improve student learning, teacher performance, and college and career-readiness through enhanced data systems that track progress
- Improvements in teacher effectiveness and commitments that all schools have highly qualified teachers
- Improvements in achievement in low-performing schools by providing intensive support and effective interventions in those schools
