Areas of Interest: Violence Against Women, Policy Relevant Family Violence Issues, Gender and Crime, & Evaluation Research.

Bio: Angela R. Gover is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado at Denver, and is the first faculty member hired to work with the Center on Domestic Violence. Dr. Gover received her B.S. in Criminal Justice from New Mexico State University and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland. Her research interests include policy relevant family violence issues, violence against women, gender and crime, and evaluation research. Some of her published work has appeared in Violence and Victims, Criminology and Public Policy, Justice Quarterly, and Women & Criminal Justice. For the past six years Dr. Gover has been working with colleagues at the University of South Carolina and the Lexington County Sheriff's Department on two Department of Justice funded research projects involving the county's law enforcement and judicial responses to domestic violence. Her current project is examining the impact of proactive enforcement of no-contact orders on victim safety and repeat victimization in Lexington County, South Carolina. Dr. Gover teaches two courses for the School of Public Affairs: Battered Women and the Legal System and Research Methods.
