Morgan Pitts is the Research Director and Youth and Community Liason for the Presidential Climate Action Project and has been involved with the project since November, 2006. He graduated from Oberlin College with a BA in Environmental Studies and Politics.
At Oberlin, Morgan served on the Environmental Sustainability Strategic Planning Committee, which developed concrete action items for the college to improve its environmental performance. He also was one of the founders and chairs of the Environmental Policy Implementation Group (EPIG), an organization started in 2004 which worked with college staff, faculty and administration to implement Oberlin’s comprehensive environmental policy, formally adopted by the board of trustees in 2004. As co-chair, he worked on a variety of research and applied projects focusing on energy and building performance.
In April of 2007, Morgan became one of the founding partners of the Lotus Live Partnership – a national alliance of young adults dedicated to promoting sustainability on campuses and in communities through education and positive goal oriented partnerships.
Morgan received the Joyce Gorn Memorial Prize in Environmental Studies for his work engaging the Oberlin community around issues of sustainability and mentorship of younger environmental studies students. In his home state of Maryland, he has been recognized by the Baltimore Orioles and Deer Park Water for his environmental outreach work.
