Bursar's Office - Billing and Enrollment Policy
Important - Registration Advance Payments
All UC Denver students taking classes on the Downtown Denver campus are required to make a registration advance payment of $200.00 before they may register for classes each semester. The ONLY two exceptions to this requirement are:
- if the Financial Aid Office has received a student's FAFSA data and the student has completed the University Application for Financial Aid, or
- if the student is only taking Extended Studies (D2) courses.
If a student withdraws from all of their classes prior to the first day of class, the $200 registration advance payment will be refunded to them after the census date. If a student withdraws from all of their classes on or after the first day of class, the $200 registration advance payment will be forfeited to the University. If a student does not withdraw from all of their classes, the $200 registration advance payment will be treated as a deposit toward the student's tuition and fees.
Course Drop Charges
If a student wishes to drop a course/section, they must do so before Tuesday of the second week of class to avoid a $100 per course/section drop charge. Beginning the second Tuesday of the semester until census date-a $100 drop charge will be assessed each time a student drops a course. If a student withdraws (therefore dropping all classes), a drop charge will be assessed for each course.
Tuition and Fee Billing
Tuition and fee e-bills for all UC Denver students are available online via the CU Access student portal. UC Denver does not mail paper billing statements to students. Tuition and fee e-bills are generally loaded to the CU Access portal on the first business day of the month in which classes begin (or approximately 3 weeks before the start of class). Payment for the tuition and fees detailed on a student's e-bill is due on the census date. Students who do not register for classes until after the e-bills have been loaded to the web will not receive their tuition and fee e-bill until after the census date, and payment will be due on the date specified on the student's e-bill.
Payments must be received by the published due date. A monthly service charge equal to 1.75% of the outstanding past due balance will be assessed to any account not paid in full by the due date. Please see the Bursar's Calendar for specific dates and deadlines each semester.
40/30/30 Deferred Payment Plan
Students have the option of paying their tuition and fee balance in three monthly installments. Students may sign-up for this deferred payment plan through the census date and must make the initial installment payment upon enrollment in the plan. Students may select this option by filling out the Deferred Payment Plan Enrollment Form or enrolling online via the CU Access student portal. The deferred payment plan is structured as follows, however you should refer to the Bursar's Calendar for specific dates and deadlines:
- 40% of initial bill + $35 non-refundable processing fee - (due on census date)
- 30% installment - (due last business day of the month in which the census date falls)
- 30% final installment - (due last business day of month following the census date)
