Anna Marie graduated CCD with the certificate in case management along with a Associate of General studies and an Associate of Applied Science in Human Services. She went on to Metro and obtained her bachelor of science in Social work with an emphasis in child welfare and continued her education by commuting weekly for one year to New Mexico Highlands University to acquire her master degree in Social work.
The youngest of a family of nine children and a native to Denver Colorado Anna Marie grew up in north Denver(“north side”!) After becoming a single parent Anna Marie enrolled at CCD 20 years later after attending North High school to get a certificate in case management. It was during this time she embraced higher education and the sense of “community” at the Community College of Denver making it a second home.
Through the belief and encouragement of some inspirational women and men in her life she was inspired and motivated to recognize her strengths and capabilities to change the educational history of her family and the coming generations. Sharing a favorite quote by Carl Jung:
"We reach backward into our parents
and forward into our children,
and through their children
into a future we will never see
but about which we must therefore care"
Over the years, Anna Marie has overcome the odds by achieving each goal in front of her and no one knows better then her daughters Mystery (19), Mariah & Mia (16-twins) who continue to be her main source of inspiration and motivation. It is without a doubt they complement each other as Anna Marie proudly speaks about their accomplishments, respect for others and beauty they each exude.
It is due to her children and the many wonderful people in her life who have inspired her to overcome some difficult challenges and have compelled her to give back and share her knowledge and experience with others which ultimately brought her on the destined path to DTI.
