I am a native Coloradoan, born and raised in Grand Junction and attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. I moved to Denver to teach at Escuela Tlatelolco upon graduating in 2004 with degrees in Mathematics and Mexican American Studies. I am a first generation student who loves the process of learning and am always looking for ways to develop myself professionally and spiritually. I enjoy sharing my experiences with others in hopes of providing insight, and I take advantage of every opportunity to learn from elders and those who are willing to share their wisdom with me. I have a broad array of interests that include spending quality time with family and friends, attending cultural events, cooking and hosting people in my home, reading, organizing and uniting communities, networking, visiting history and art museums, attending Broncos and Nuggets games, watching independent media, and traveling. I could not live without music and like to support independent artists. My spirituality revolves around people and the community. They give me the strength to live, the motivation to do more, the curiosity to learn, and the faith that there is meaning behind everything that happens in the world. I admire the work of those that stand up for what they believe in and who work for the betterment of our society. I believe education is liberating and should be accessible to everyone. I dedicate my life to supporting the educational experiences of those I cross paths with, and I am excited to be involved with the Denver Transfer Initiative.
