Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)
University of Colorado Denver - Downtown Denver Campus
WUE is the Western Undergraduate Exchange, a program of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). Through WUE, students in western states may enroll in many two-year and four-year college programs at a reduced tuition level: 150 percent of the institution's regular resident tuition.
Students who are residents of the following states are eligible: Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
Potential participants should refer to the WICHE web site for further information.
UCD is one of three campuses of the University of Colorado system. The Downtown Denver campus is coeducational, operates on a semester calendar, and offers prospective WUE students a broad range of majors in the liberal arts and sciences, arts and media, plus professional programs in business and engineering. There are approximately 12,500 students attending the Downtown Denver campus; 7,500 undergraduate and 5,000 graduate. Note: WUE is only available at the Downtown Denver Campus of UCD.
New for Fall 2006 semester will be student housing. All new freshmen will be required to live in the University Village. Transfer students are welcome to live there as well. Information can be found at www.cudenver.edu/housing.
Programs open to WUE students on a space-available basis:
All undergraduate majors are available to new freshmen and new transfer students who meet the admission standards for the program to which they are applying. As an institution with selective admissions, applicants must be well prepared academically. Applicants to Business and Engineering majors must meet higher admission standards than majors in Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Arts and Media.
Conditions for enrollment under WUE:
The program is open only to new, undergraduate degree applicants to the Downtown Denver campus. The request for the WUE benefit must be clearly marked on the application for admission, a letter submitted with the application, or a notation in the Personal Statement section of the web application. Students who are admitted and enroll at UCD, Downtown Denver cannot apply for WUE after enrollment at UCD Downtown Denver campus.
Students who have chosen to attend UCD as part of the WUE program are not eligible for Colorado Residency. Duration for the WUE benefit is four (4) years or completion of the Bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first.
To maintain WUE program status students must:
1. Remain in good academic standing (2.0 or better gpa each semester) and,
2. Be continuously enrolled each Fall and Spring semester as a full time student completing 12 credit hours.
