Academic Program Development
BA in International Studies
A new UCD BA in International Studies has been developed and approved by CU’s Board of Regents and by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education. It is an interdisciplinary degree that brings together courses offered by international business in the Business School as well as the departments of anthropology, economics, geography, history, modern languages, political science and religious studies.
BA/MS Joint International Business Program
A joint five year BA/MSIB degree program has been developed for exceptional students who wish to combine a BA in International Spanish for the Professions from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Master of Science in International Business (MSIB) from the University of Colorado Denver. Students are able to complete both degrees in five years, including two summer sessions, because 15 credit hours of the undergraduate major can be used to waive the Common Body of Knowledge requirement of the MSIB program.
Business Spanish and Business Track
A Foreign language track in Business Spanish was approved by the UCD Modern Languages Department and by the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. This was implemented in fall 2006.
Licensure - French and Spanish
The CU Regents approved a new licensure program that allows students to concurrently earn a French or Spanish degree and a secondary teaching license with a foreign language specialization. This was approved by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education.
MA Spanish
An MA in Spanish with ancillary courses in Business was approved by the CU Board of Regents; it began in fall 2005.
MBA International Health
The UCD Health Administration faculty approved the development of an International Health MBA that began in fall 2004. This is the first known program of its type in the US.
