Permanent Residence The University will assist international scholars with permanent residence when it is in the University’s interest to do so and if the employee is in a regular position at the University. The University does not serve as the petitioner for employees in a Postdoctoral Fellow position.
If an employing unit would like to discuss the possibility of permanent residence for a particular employee, the administrator should make an appointment for a international scholar advisor to meet with the administrator, the Principal Investigator or Department Chair, and the international employee. The international scholar advisor will review the various options for permanent residence; explain what role the University could play in each option; and, if the employing unit decides that they wish to pursue this effort, help the unit choose the most appropriate path. The following documents provide some general information about options for permanent residence based on employment at the University.
