American Disabilities Act for UCD Faculty Online Course

The purpose of the ADA: Equal Access

This course is about the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. These acts are federal nondiscrimination laws enacted to remove employment and discrimination barriers to people with disabilities.

Course objectives

In this 30-minute course faculty and staff will learn to:

  • Distinguish between people with disabilities and those with short-term injuries or conditions;
  • Distinguish between reasonable and unreasonable accommodations;
  • Assist students that qualify for a classroom accommodation, and
  • Maintain the proper etiquette with someone who has a disability
