Successful Supervision in the Classified System Online Course

This course provides an overview of the State of Colorado's classified staff rules and procedures. This 90-minute course was created to help supervisors navigate the complexities of the state and university classified staff policies.

Course objective: maximal success; minimal stress.

In this course supervisors learn the "rules of the road" for successfully managing in the classified staff system, including how to:

  • Hire new employees;
  • Set performance goals with employees, and monitor their progress in achieving them;
  • Resolve complaints and poor performance while rewarding exemplary work, and Manage employee leave and separations.

Once supervisors learn these human resource management skills, they can maximize their employees' productivity and satisfaction and minimize the chances that they will make the wrong personnel decision or take the wrong action.
