SMART START Checklist


Now that you have been admitted to the university, it is important to complete the following steps before classes begin:

 
Attend orientation
Freshmen students are required to attend orientation.
Meet with your advisor
Click on one of the following links to find out who your advisor is and how to contact them.
Register for classes-   Registration is done online via SMART registration.  Click here for registration instructions.
 Finalize tuition payment-   Make payment arrangements with the Bursar’s Office, or if you're receiving financial aid, make sure your paperwork is complete
Get your student ID card-   The ID Center is located in the Tivoli Student Union, room 269.  You must be registered for courses and have a print-out of your schedule with you in order to get your ID card. For more information, call (303) 556-8385.
Get your Course Catalog-  Newly admitted students receive a voucher for a UCD Course Catalog.  The voucher is included in the admissions packet sent to you by the Office of Admissions.  Vouchers may be turned in for catalogues at the Student Service Center in the North Classroom.
Become familiar with the campus, parking and transportation-   We encourage you to visit campus and become familiar with it before classes begin.  You may also arrange a campus tour by calling the Office of Admissions at (303) 556-2704
Become familiar with other services on campus-  For example, the Disability Services Office is available to provide accommodations for students with special needs.  For more information, please call (303) 556-3450.  Another campus resource is the Veterans Affairs Office, for more information call (303) 556-2630.  
 
 


Helpful hints for success at UCDHSC:

  • Before attending your first class, sign in to the SMART registration system and print out a copy of your schedule of classes.
  • Activate your student email account in North Classroom 1206.
  • Log in to SMART and be sure that your email, mailing address and phone number are correct.
  • Make sure you understand key university and college policies and that you are aware of important dates and deadlines.  If you have questions, see your academic advisor. 
  • Make sure to attend your classes!
