School of Pharmacy welcomes Class of 2012 to the profession

(Aug 25, 2008) The UC Denver School of Pharmacy officially welcomed 155 students  to the profession during a White Coat Ceremony Friday, Aug. 22. The annual ceremony is a meaningful tradition in which the school welcomes first-year students pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree as colleagues dedicated to patient care.

Dean Ralph Altiere, Associate Dean Peter Rice and Assistant Dean Catherine Jarvis assisted the students with putting on a white coat, the symbol of clinical service and care. After donning their white coats, the students signed the pledge of professionalism that they composed as a class over the past week.

The ceremony concluded with the students reciting the pledge together. After the ceremony, students, family and faculty celebrated the start of a new academic year at a barbecue on the Anschutz Medical Campus education quad. The White Coat Ceremony has been a tradition for the incoming students since the inception of the first PharmD class in 1999.
