It’s time for classified staff performance coaching and progress review
(Sept. 24, 2008) Each classified staff member must receive a coaching and progress review at least once during the plan year, which must be initialed and dated on the front page of the form by both the supervisor and employee at the time it is conducted.
As we are now in the middle of the performance evaluation cycle, it is important to provide and document coaching and feedback sessions as soon as possible. We recommend scheduling individual meetings with employees for these discussions. When employees go into the final evaluation meeting they must have a clear idea of what they have done and how effectively they have done it. On-going feedback, including coaching and progress reviews are very essential part of the performance management. Please do not send documentation of progress reviews to the Human Resources Department. We will not review the form for such documentation until the end of the performance evaluation cycle.
Any 2008-09 performance plans for classified staff employees which have not yet been completed must be done as soon as possible. Plans for new employees must also be completed within 30 days of hire. Photocopied pages of the signed performance plans (the front signature page and the “summary of performance” scoring matrix page) must be sent to the Human Resources Department, ATTN: Brooke, Campus Box: DDC 130. Use the 2008-09 form found at:
http://administration.ucdenver.edu/admin/hr/documents/PMPFormforPlanYear08-09.doc.
The performance management cycle this year is April 1, 2008 through March 31, 2009.
The Employee Relations and Training Unit of the Human Resources Department provides the required training to supervisors who do performance planning and evaluations for classified staff. The website for all training classes and on-line registration is: http://www.ucdhsc.edu/admin/hr/training.htm. Contact Saleha Farooq at 303-315-2742 for assistance.
Decimals can be used for individual factor ratings. The final weighted individual factor ratings must be summed to determine the final overall score. The final score must then be rounded to the nearest whole number to establish the performance rating.
If you have any questions, please contact the Human Resources Department at (303) 315-2700.
