Agreement expands security for Downtown Campus buildings

(Nov. 7, 2008) Because safety and security is a top priority, UC Denver has reached an agreement with the Auraria Higher Education Center Police Department for providing safety and security services to UC Denver facilities east of Speer Boulevard – including the Lawrence Street Center at 1380 Lawrence; and the CU Denver Building, 1250 14th Street. The agreement means that when you dial 9-1-1 from an office phone -- in the Lawrence Street Center or the CU Denver Building -- the call is routed directly to Auraria Police Dispatch. Of course, if someone dials 9-1-1 from a mobile phone, it always will go to Denver Police or the local jurisdiction. To ensure the fastest response in an emergency while on campus, police recommend that you program your cell phone to speed dial Auraria Campus Police at 303-556-5000.

For more phone numbers and information <http://www.ahec.edu/campuspolice/safetytips.htm>  regarding services provided by Auraria Police, including the helpful security escort service, see the website at: http://www.ahec.edu/police.html. Additional security measures already active in the two UC Denver buildings include round-the-clock, on-site security personnel, overhead security cameras and emergency call buttons near underground parking garage elevators in both buildings.

When dialing 9-1-1 from office phones at the Anschutz Medical Campus, your call is directed to the University of Colorado Denver Police Department dispatch.
