(Dec. 11, 2008) A simple ceremony led by Aurora Mayor Ed Tauer along with Chancellor M. Roy Wilson, University of Colorado Hospital President Bruce Schroffel and The Children’s Hospital President Jim Shmerling recognized the changing of Ursula Street to Aurora Court. The street that leads travelers through the heart of the Anschutz Medical Campus was renamed as a symbol of the successful partnership between the city, the university, the hospitals and the Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority.
“At the heart of our campus is the partnership we have built with the City of Aurora over the years,” Chancellor M. Roy Wilson said.
Addresses affected by the street name change include:
1. Anschutz Outpatient Pavilion (AOP) was 1635 North Ursula St - now 1635 Aurora Ct.
2. Rocky Mountain Lion's Eye Institute was 1675 North Ursula St. - now 1675 Aurora Ct.
3. Anschutz Cancer Pavilion (ACP) was 1665 North Ursula St. - now 1665 Aurora Ct.
4. Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes was 1665 North Ursula St. - now 1775 Aurora Ct.
Business cards for the Barbara Davis Center staff will be replaced with one box (250) of free cards. Departments will be responsible for replacing letterhead and envelopes.
Aurora Court closed to Dec. 24
(Dec. 10, 2008) Beginning Thursday, Dec. 11, Aurora Court (formerly Ursula Street) will be closed from 17th Avenue to 17th Place on the west side of the circle, in front of Building 500, for installation of a storm sewer line. There will be two-way traffic on the east side of Aurora Court. Construction should be complete by Friday, Dec. 24.
The start of this construction requires relocation of the RTD bus stop for routes 15, 20 and DM, currently located south of Building 500. The stop will move, temporarily, to just south of the Barbara Davis Center, on 17th Avenue.
