(Feb. 6, 2009) The publications Pinnacle (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences) and UC Denver on the Horizon (Downtown Alumni Association) resonated with thousands of University of Colorado Denver alumni during the past year. Now, these publications have garnered attention from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). The Department of Marketing and Creative Services in the UC Denver Office of Integrated University Communications has received three awards from CASE District VI: gold, for the cover of Pinnacle magazine, bronze for Pinnacle in the category of four-color magazines and bronze for UC Denver on the Horizon in the category of magazines published on a budget.
Pinnacle, the inaugural magazine for CLAS, received an overwhelming positive response from its readers, featuring top programs, faculty and research in the college. Cover artist Bryan Leister, assistant professor of visual arts in the College of Arts & Media, will also be creating the cover for the next edition.
Pinnacle also won a national bronze award in the illustration category last fall from the University and College Designers Association (UCDA).
The alumni periodical UC Denver on the Horizon is distributed to more than 50,000 alumni through the mail. The Office of Integrated University Communications used written material and photographs to provide an overview of the myriad opportunities and activities at UC Denver, while proving to be economically-friendly.
The awards were presented at the CASE District VI conference in Kansas City, Mo. UC Denver competed against schools throughout Colorado, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri, Kansas and Iowa.
