A peek at the future of online learning

(June 2, 2008) The seventh annual CU Online Spring Symposium attracted a record crowd of faculty and staff to learn, discuss and ponder the future of online learning.

Featuring the tag line, “Building a Better Tomorrow, Today!” the symposium continued its tradition of blending fun with practical sessions focused on improving online courses.

Sessions ranging from the use of the Blackboard Learning Management system to support online communities, free online tools for creating multimedia, a student panel discussion on what works best in online courses, using Google Docs in the classroom and a peek at the next version of the eCollege interface kept participants engaged and excited about online learning.

“If we can get people together just one time a year, and get them jazzed about teaching online and about making their online courses better, then we feel like we have done our job,” said symposium co-coordinator David Thomas.

In addition to the Spring Symposium, CU Online offers ongoing program around online learning and academic technology. To find out more and access symposium materials and sessions recordings, visit: www.cuonline.edu. Also, check out the symposium video.
