Engineering students pique industry interest at Open House

(June 6, 2008) Nearly 20 creative and energetic collaborations from engineering seniors at the UC Denver’s College of Engineering and Applied Science compete for awards at the second Engineering Student Design Open House held Friday. Students developed and applied ideas to create new technologies and programs that range from health care solutions to more efficient vehicles to high tech surveillance models.
These one-of-a-kind projects piqued the interest of industry leaders as many will be on hand to see the students’ work. The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Education Committee was there to judge the projects by discipline (electrical, civil, mechanical, and computer science).
“The goals of this event are many,” explained Renjeng Su, dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science. “An important one is to promote and build interactions with industry.”
Winning teams received $1,000 and $500 cash prizes sponsored by Donald and Karen White. The team’s faculty advisor was awarded the same amount.
