Cancer Center offering free prostate cancer screenings this week

(Sept. 15, 2008) Today through Sept. 20, the University of Colorado Cancer Center is offering free prostate cancer screening exams to men age 45+ and men 40+ who are at high risk for prostate cancer due to a family history.

This exam will include the two best tests for prostate cancer detection: PSA (a blood test) and a digital rectal exam. In addition, the University of Colorado Cancer Center is offering a new urine test called the PCA3 to all participants. This exam can provide additional information that the patient may need to help decide whether a new biopsy is necessary or not.

Screenings are at the Anschutz Cancer Center 1st floor, 1665 North Ursula St., Aurora, today through Sept. 19, 2-6 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 20 8 a.m.-noon.

Prostate cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death in men. No appointment is necessary. Call 720-848-9999  for more info or learn more at www.uccc.info
