Take a walk on the healthy side
(May 16, 2008) Move it UC Denver! Colorado and, for that matter, the nation need to move it, too. Just because our state boasts the lowest obesity rate in America doesn’t mean the frightening and costly statistics aren’t creeping upward the past years. It’s time to have a fit . . . or at least get fit. America on the Move, co-founded by UC Denver’s Dr. James Hill, has devised a way to help employees of and visitors to Anschutz Medical Campus take steps toward getting healthier on campus.
The Anschutz Medical Campus walking tours map, available online, offers three different routes:
-
the History Tour, 1.6 miles, about 3,200 steps taking 30-35 minutes
-
the Employee Tour, 1.75 miles, 3,500, 35 minutes
-
the First Timers’ Tour, 1.6 miles, 30-35 minutes
Each map offers additional steps with extra “loops” along the trails. “The idea is that people will be able to click on the map and then on whichever tour they want to print out,” notes Chrissy Schaeffer, program coordinator.
The map can always be found on Network under the “Faculty and Staff Resources” tab.
