University Honors and Leadership Program call for proposals
(May 19 , 2008) The University of Colorado Denver University Honors and Leadership (UHL) program is inviting proposals for development of interdisciplinary, pedagogically innovative undergraduate courses for the academic honors and leadership tracks. Both tracks offer five interdisciplinary courses, with focus on academic honors and leadership education respectively, during the second and third years of the UHL program.
The UHL courses will substitute general core requirements of UCD. Course proposals that incorporate required areas in an interdisciplinary manner will be given preference. Team teaching of faculty from various disciplines is highly encouraged. The UHL Faculty Steering Committee will review and select courses to be offered to each cohort.
$500 will be awared for each course selected for development. This award may be used as summer salary, or in a university account and spent in accordance to the university rules and procedures for the development of the proposed course. There must be a commitment to teach the selected courses at least twice.
Support for Teaching UHL Courses: An equivalent of one course release time is available for each UHL course. Faculty have the option to teach the UHL course as compensated overload, as a course buy out from the school/department, or receive the funding in a university account.
UHL Course Objectives and Guidelines are available online at http://thunder1.cudenver.edu/ue/uhl/faculty.htm
Deadline for Course Proposal Submission: The UHL Steering Committee will begin reviewing proposals on July 1, 2008. The first group of courses will be offered fall 2009.
