Research on pomegranates and health

(July 31, 2008) Volunteers are needed for a three-month research study exploring the effects of pomegranate juice on different markers of health in diabetes patients.

Participants must:

  • have Type 2 Diabetes treated with oral medication
  • be 35–70 years of age
  • be non-smoking
  • not be using insulin therapy or steroids
  • not be pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding
  • have an HbA1c level ≤ 9% AND an hsCRP ≥1.0 (researchers will assess)
  • have no other significant medical history
  • be willing to have blood drawn
  • be willing to maintain normal activity and eating patterns
