Beckett completes marketing communications team
With the Feb. 1 addition of Deanna Beckett as associate director, the Office of Marketing Communications is now fully staffed. Beckett was hired at a critical time, as Director Charlotte Million will be out at least six weeks following hip replacement surgery. In addition to managing several marketing projects during Million’s absence, Beckett will manage the editing process for the 2006/2007 catalog. She will also direct the efforts of freelance writers and editors on various marketing and publications projects.
With nearly 20 years’ experience writing and editing, Beckett brings important skills to the team. “As a team, we now have the right mix of people and experience to give our university clients high-quality and efficient marketing services,” she explained. “I believe I will bring some consistency to how we craft messages for the various campus communities.”
Beckett comes to UCDHSC from the Association of Surgical Technologists, a nonprofit membership organization whose mission was largely related to continuing education. In that capacity, she edited and managed production of a monthly technical journal, as well as handled marketing, publications and Web projects. She also worked in the Office of Communications at the University of Denver managing university publications projects and editing the alumni journal, faculty/staff newsletter. She holds a master of special studies in applied communication from that institution.
