IT Services expands search engine access
Searching the Web site has just been made easier. Vaughn Larsen of IT Services notes that the downtown Denver campus has dumped the Google search engine on the home page and installed Infoseek in its place.
“Infoseek is what we used at the Health Sciences Center and the consolidated site,” he explains. Whereas the Google search engine only accessed information on the CMS, once fully indexed the new search engine will access pages in the system outside the CMS, such as those on thunder1.
“What I hope to do is tweak it and make an optional search, such as downtown only or if you want medical information,” Larsen says. “It’s an ongoing process. We’ll fine tune the search engine after we’ve indexed the site.”
