Ready to raise a ‘Ruckus?’

Goodie baskets, baby and Buffs blankets, golf bags, signed basketballs and baseballs, along with Avs and Nuggets tickets are just a few of this year’s offerings a the 14th annual Rock Bottom Ruckus.

Yep folks, it’s that time of year again: time to kick up yer’ heels and join in the Alumni Association’s annual Rock Bottom Ruckus, 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at Rock Bottom Brewery on the 16th Street Mall. For the 14th consecutive year, the generosity of the alumni and non-alum guests, as well as soon-to-be-alumni volunteers will make this fundraiser a phenomenal success.

Last year’s Rock Bottom Ruckus was a sell-out, with guests helping to raise more than $64,600 for scholarships for outstanding undergraduate students. More than a dozen recipients of these scholarships helped out by lending their time as meetings and greeters, and liaisons between auction bidders. The event hosts a silent auction as well as a high-spirited live auction. The funds raised were the most ever.

Since its inception, the Rock Bottom Ruckus has raised more than a half a million dollars for scholarships. Through this effort and other fund-raisers, the association was able to distribute $64,000 to undergraduate students through the Alumni Association General Scholarship for the 2004-2005 school year. The Rock Bottom Brewery donates all the food, beverages and staff so all money raised can benefit students at the downtown Denver campus.

The association expects to award individual scholarships of $1,500 per year to new and continuing undergraduate students. The selection process for distribution of this 2006-2007 academic year will begin April 1.
