CU diversity commission
working on recommendations

Members of the Blue Ribbon Commission on Diversity appointed by CU President Hank Brown are continuing to discuss and develop recommendations regarding UCD. They're scheduled to deliver their findings to President Brown by April 10.

When the group gathered March 4 at St. Cajetan's on the Auraria Campus, they heard from faculty, students, staff and administration representing both the downtown Denver and Health Sciences Center campuses. Provost Mark Heckler facilitated the day-long meeting that included presentations and panels discussing and describing our consolidated efforts to support diversity and inclusion.

A detailed report (http://thunder1.cudenver.edu/blueribbon/), prepared for and delivered in advance to the commissioners, provided statistics on student enrollment, faculty and staff composition, and program descriptions.

Following the presentations portion of the day's event, commission members participated in small group discussions. Afterward, the whole group reassembled to present highlights of their discussions as a segue to identify a set of recommendations. However, they decided that they needed more time to consider the information that they had been presented with, as well as points raised in the discussion groups. Finally, commissioners agreed to adjourn the day and to work among themselves to complete their task.

Copies of the UDCHSC recommendations will be available online as soon as they are available.

The Blue Ribbon Commission first met on the Boulder campus in February and meets again April 7 at the Colorado Springs campus. An additional session later this fall is under discussion.
