Mitch Handelsman

Mitch Handelsman, professor of psychology, is the senior author of two articles that have appeared in the past month. The first article,"A Measure of College Student Course Engagement," was published in the January/February 2005 issue of the Journal of Educational Research.  The coauthors include Bill Briggs, professor of mathematics, Nora Sullivan, a recent graduate of the graduate program in psychology, and psychology faculty member Annette Towler.  The research was supported by a University of Colorado Denver teaching enhancement grant to Handelsman and Briggs and by the President's Teaching Scholars Program.

The second article, "Training Ethical Psychologists: An Acculturation Model," was published in the February 2005 issue of Professional Psychology: Research & Practice. Handelsman describes this article as "the best idea I've had in my entire career.” But, he quipped, “The bad news is that I've only had three ideas in my career."
