| The Downtown Denver Campus is hopping. At any given time, the campus community has access to lectures, celebrations, discussion groups and innovative research information that extends far beyond the Auraria Campus. Here are just a few of the happenings during the past month:
 Mary Lou Fenili, left, was honored at a reception for nearly 16 years of service in the Ombuds office. Mary Lou turned over the Ombuds mantel to Mary Chavez Rudolph and a newly consolidated office to devote full-time to her role as assistant vice chancellor for academic affairs. ____________________________________________  The College of Architecture and Planning hosted a presentation and workshop Feb. 18 called "The Future of Design" with Chris Luebkeman, the director of Global Foresight and Innovation at Ove Arup, London. Pictured from left are Mark Heckler, provost, Mark Gelernter, dean of the College of Architecture and Planning, Luebkeman, and professor emeritus DeVon "Dev" Carlson, who was the very first dean of the College of Architecture and Planning in the 1950s. |  Mary Coussens-Read, Faculty Assembly president, organized a Governance Roundtable where about a dozen faculty gathered to discuss the Academic Master Plan, retention issues and the state of higher education in Colorado. ______________________________________
 Lynn Rhodes, dean of the School of Education, and Dottie Lewis, former associate vice chancellor for administration and finance, enjoy the food and the company at Lewis’ going away reception. Lewis took a position in Doha, Qatar.

James R. Thompson of Rice University talks to a packed house Feb. 11 on "Some Things Economists Know That Just Aren't So." The talk in the CU-Denver Building, was sponsored by the statistics department.
