ACADEMIC MASTER PLAN ON THE CASE FOR ADDITIONAL SPACE

The Academic Master Plan is looking at options to relieve overcrowding in labs and classes.
We all need our space, some more than others. But the schools and colleges at the University of Colorado Denver’s Downtown Denver Campus need it even more than most. The case for space is seen in auditoriums-turned-classrooms where students sit in theater chairs writing notes in lap-held binders, in the capping of courses due to a shortage of seats, and in the scarcity of teaching and research labs in several departments. One of the pressing needs being navigated through the Academic Master Plan (AMP) process is the need for space. (Click for Full Story)

RESEARCH AND CREATIVE ACTIVITIES DAY EYES 'EUREKA MOMENT'
The exhibits at the 2005 Research and Creative Activities were as remarkable and unique as the students who created and presented them. About 300 people from the campus and metro community convened at the North Classroom Atrium on April 15 to check out a diverse-range of presentations. (Click for Story)
LADIES OF THE DANCE: INTERNATIONAL ED WELCOMES ENSEMBLE
Adorned in bright mauves, yellows and blues, six beautiful women spoke to an audience of more than 200 without saying a word. The legs, arms, scarves and bodies of Nrigyagram Dance Ensemble flowed in fluid motion to the sounds of the Mardala, flute, violin and sitar, each movement and gesture telling a story. CAP STUDENTS PART OF WINNING URBAN DESIGN TEAM
A five-student team from the University of Colorado, including two students from the Downtown Denver Campus' College of Architecture and Planning, has won $50,000 in a national urban design competition held in Salt Lake City. (Click for Story)

Photography student Deanna Lowman has recently been getting a lot of attention for her work. Not only is she often seen at campus events snapping photos that have appeared on the web and in College of Arts & Media and other campus publications, she has earned some pretty impressive honors as well. Open enrollment for the 2005-06 Plan-Year is under way through May 27. The first few weeks of Open Enrollment are devoted to reviewing materials, providing learning opportunities, and encouraging all employees to become actively engaged in making the best decisions about their benefits. There will be a farewell reception for Dana Gibson, vice chancellor for administration and information systems, on Tuesday, May 10, 3:30-5 p.m., Lawrence Street Center, 2nd floor. Gibson has accepted the chief financial officer position (vice president for business and finance) at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
