Provost Mark Heckler announced the appointment of Frank Sanchez as the new associate vice chancellor for enrollment and student affairs. Sanchez will be joining the University of Colorado Denver’s Downtown Denver Campus June 1. He currently is serving as vice president for student affairs at Adams State College in Alamosa, a post he has held since 1999.
“Dr. Sanchez brings direct experience in all facets of the student affairs enterprise, most recently leading a significant and positive turnaround in the enrollment management division at Adams State College,” Heckler said.
Prior to his arrival in Alamosa, Sanchez served as interim director and associate director of housing and residence life at the University of Wyoming, assistant director of multicultural affairs at DePauw University, taught in instructional positions at Indiana University and Indiana State University, and served as director of the Hispanic success project at Colorado State University.
"I am enthused to be a part of the progressive practice and forward thinking that is so much a part of the UCD community,” Sanchez said. “It is a tremendous privilege to be asked to work with the caliber of faculty and staff on the UC Denver campus and I look forward to joining an educational experience that has become a first-choice for so many of our Colorado citizens."
Sanchez earned his PhD in Higher Education Administration from Indiana University, an MS in Student Affairs and Higher Education from CSU, and a BA in Psychology from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
"The associate vice chancellor for enrollment and student affairs is a vital leadership position for the future success of the UCD Downtown Denver Campus," Heckler said. "I know that Frank Sanchez will be an excellent addition to our strong leadership team on the campus. We will see a positive and mutually supportive and interactive relationship grow among our academic and student affairs programs as a result."
