The annual Fall Festival, co-sponsored by the Office of Student Life, celebrated diverse interests, vendors, artisans, and student and departmental organizations. Dancing, jousting, live music, non-profits, ethnic food, home-made clothing and grass-roots movements entwined over two days in the lively setting at the Flagpole area of Auraria Campus. More than 200 vendors and several hundred participants from the Downtown Denver Campus community took part the Sept. 14 and 15 event. “The fall festival is an opportunity for building community and a chance for our students to mix and mingle and meet with student organization leaders and departmental representatives,” says Khushnur Dadabhoy, associate director of the Office of Student Life. “Students participating in this event have reported a heightened sense of belonging and campus pride.”
The Rift Raw Krew, a recently formed Denver dance crew featured on the cover of Skylines, was one of the main draws. The crew’s dance styles consist of Hip-Hop, Pop and Lock, Break dance, Lyrical, Jazz and many more. Most of the members of have been merged into the local dance scene for several years, and have earned respect from numerous local talents.
Popular dining options included Rosa Linda Mexican Café, Cha’s Catering and Chef Berry’s. Two popular bands that played were Yo Flaco www.yoflaco.com (Thursday, Sept. 15) and Boa and the Constrictors (Wednesday, Sept 14). The event was also co-sponsored by Metro Student Activities and Wells Fargo.
