Danielle Zieg joined the University of Colorado Denver’s Downtown Denver Campus July 1 as the new director of media relations.

Her work will focus on supporting the campus’ mission through increased positive media exposure and serving as the initial point of contact for media requests. Zieg will work closely with campus faculty, staff, student and administrative leadership to identify and develop appropriate subject matter and opportunities for initiating or responding to media.

”I’m looking forward to helping raise public awareness of the programs, faculty, students and staff of the Downtown Denver Campus via positive media coverage,” Zieg says.

Zieg’s responsibilities include project coordination with the Downtown Denver Campus marketing communications team as well as the Health Sciences Center public relations group.

“We welcome the arrival of Danielle to our campus community and team,” says Andy Jhanji, chief of staff. “Her vast experience in the private and public sectors dealing with the media will serve the university well as we move the Downtown Denver Campus message forward.”

Before joining the Downtown Denver Campus, Zieg was the corporate communications lead focusing on internal and external communications for the Denver offices of American Century Investments, a financial management company. Zieg’s previous experience includes serving as the director of News and Information for the University of Denver and prior to that as the broadcast media relations coordinator for the University of Colorado at Boulder. She also worked for 15 years as a broadcast news journalist including stints locally at KUSA-TV and KMGH-TV.
