Concrete Frisbees?

Civil Engineering Assistant Professor Stephan Durham held a concrete Frisbee competition on November 9. The competitors were members of his senior level class, CE 3141: Materials Testing Lab. Results included a winning distance that was the "average of three throws"—132 ft.—and the lightest Frisbee weighed only 0.26 lb. Frisbees went much further than last semester, and there were some very innovative designs.
Buechner's GSPA retirement

Friends and colleagues of John Buechner gathered at the University Club in downtown Denver to bid the former university president and GSPA professor a happy retirement. Meet ‘n’ Greet

Planning and Analysis along with the Office of Policy and Fiscal Analysis invited faculty and staff to a Meet the People Coffee on Nov. 20 in the Lawrence Street Center 10th floor conference room. New Institutional Research staff are Christine Stroup-Benham, director, David Deffenbacher, senior research coordinator, and Nathan Schwab, research coordinator (in red above). New to Policy and Fiscal Analysis is Fahim Ghafoori, fiscal analyst.
Staff Council Open House

Staff Council hosted an open house Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the CU-Denver Building, Room 299. Staff was encouraged to check out what Staff Council is all about while enjoying refreshments and meeting new colleagues.
Mentor-Mentee Program Gets Under Way

Above right, Brenda Allen moderates the first meeting of tenured and non-tenured faculty. Allen, chair of the Department of Communications and head of the pilot program co-sponsored the Center for Faculty Development, set the stage for the program and the collaborations between mentors and mentees.
