(May 11, 2009) The University of Colorado Denver received five of seven system-wide honors in promoting diversity presented Tuesday, May 5, by CU President Bruce Benson. Awardees were honored at a reception Tuesday, May 5, the President’s Office.
“I have always valued and cannot stress enough the importance of diversity on our campuses and the importance of diversity across the system,” Benson told celebrants.
“Promoting diversity is at the forefront of our work at the University of Colorado,” Benson stressed. “Thank you very much for all you do for diversity within the university.”
UC Denver recipients were:
Faculty Award: Carolyn DiGuiseppi, associate professor and residency director in the Department of Epidemiology at Anschutz Medical Campus
Staff Award: Mary Diaz, shown at left, information manager in student services at the College of Nursing
Student Award: Kevin Bogart, School of Public Affairs, who traveled to Kenya on his own dime to support diversity
For the second year, in addition to the President’s Diversity Award, a President’s Diversity Commendation was awarded to individuals and units whose contributions to diversity also are significant and worthy of recognition.
